"My hope is that I make an impact and touch people's lives wherever I go.
Music is the art that goes where words simply can't
and I cannot envision my life without music "
Who is Gabriel Walters?
Starting music at the tender age of 3, Gabriel has gone on to refine his skills as a musician through an LTCL performance Diploma in violin from the Trinity College London. He’s served in his home country of Jamaica as the concertmaster of the University of the West Indies Classical and Jazz Ensemble (UWI CAJE) and the associate Concertmaster of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Jamaica (POJ). On the international scene Gabriel has performed extensively in the Caribbean, United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom, performing with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Americas, L'Orchestre de la Francophonie, and also touring as a soloist.
Locally, Walters has been mentored by Jamaican icons such as Steven Woodham, Paulette Bellamy, Peter Ashbourne, and internationally has studied with Alexandre da Costa and Nancy Dahn, as well as members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Lynn Conservatory. He has performed under the baton of Carlos Miguel Prieto, Rafael Payare, Arturo Marquez, Daniel Myssyk and Simon Rivard among others, and has worked with top international musicians such as Leon Spierer, Jose Aurellio Castillo, Daniel Phillips, James Ehnes, Helene Collerette, Minju Kim and Kerson Leong.
Gabriel has worked with young musicians across Jamaica through private tutoring and classes at Jamaica College, Northern Caribbean University's Community Music School and at the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica (NYOJ), a not-for-profit social change through music program. In 2019, he founded the Accel String Quartet, along with NYOJ alumni which provided an outlet to showcase a few of his original works. The group has become a staple on the Jamaican classical and cross-genre music scene that performs regularly throughout the island.
In 2024, he founded the Accel Music Studio, a live performance agency for islandwide corporate events and destination weddings, as well as a private music education studio that currently offers violin and piano lessons to students of all ages. In addition to his work as a teaching artist, Gabriel performs regularly at classical recitals and corporate events. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, chess, cycling, exploring nature, and virtual city building.
